About the Pingyao Festival
Pingyao International Photography Festival (PIP) was created in 2001 in the ancient city of Pingyao, a world heritage site in Shanxi, China. Since its inception, PIP has been fully committed to the concept of strong international participation, professionalism and diversity, and has operated strictly in line with international practices.
While nudging its way to international curatorial standards and interacting between tradition
and the modern, it has remained at the front of China’s photography and become one of the most influential international festivals, attracting the attention of the world’s photography community. Over the past ten years, more than 16 million viewers have attended PIP, and exhibitions have toured in many countries and regions, such as United Nations headquarters, the USA, France, Japan, Spain, India, Belgium and Australia.
