The Queensland Festival of Photography is a state-wide celebration of photography that runs biennially for the duration of April. The Festival includes exhibitions from around the entire state of Queensland with nearly half of the program coming from regional centres

The Queensland Centre for Photography (QCP) inaugurated the first Queensland Festival of Photography in 2006 with eleven participating institutions.

Each time the Festival grows beyond expectations, with twenty participants in 2008 and then 37 in 2010

The next Queensland Festival of Photography is planned for April 2012 and is set to be the biggest and best yet with international guests and an amazing line-up of artists and speakers for the Festival symposium.

The Queensland Festival of Photography is one of the few that is run from within an institution and thus allows other participating institutions to control their own programs. This is unique to photographic festivals, meaning that the program will expand as the institutions within the state do. The Festival capitalises on the public love for photography and the excellent resources that exist within Queensland.
